Gustave whitehead and his whitehead no.21 & no.22
- On August 14th, 1901 Gustave Whitehead flew his aircraft Whitehead No.21 for 800m at 15m height. The Whitehead No.21 was flown in Connecticut. It has bat-like wings made with bamboos and covered in silk; 2 engines and a triangular tail. Gustave flew 2 more flights in 1902, using his Whitehead No.22.

Carl richard nyberg and his flugan
In 1922, Carl Richard Nyberg from Sweden, managed to make a few small jumps in his steam-powered, manned aircraft flugan. He used to blow torches to make the flugan steam-powered. The "flugan" was an aeroplane he designed and built outside his home in Sweden. It was said that he started designing the flugan in 1897.
